Flyer design at Tonstudio Leipzig, print ready on handover.

More than an invitation.
Flyer design at Tonstudio Leipzig.

Some occasions deserve more than a WhatsApp message. A wedding invitation, a funeral card, a birthday flyer, a concert poster. At Tonstudio Leipzig we design your flyer together in a personal conversation about the concept. At the end you get a print ready PDF to take away.

Some occasions deserve a card in the hand, not just a message in a chat.

In everyday digital life, invitations, event announcements and promotional material are sent almost entirely through WhatsApp, Instagram and email. That is practical and fast, but on special occasions it suddenly is not enough. A wedding invitation in the family group chat looks trivial next to the day's spam. Announcing a funeral service as a WhatsApp audio does not suit the dignity of the occasion. A birthday invitation as a scheduling poll trivialises the moment. Promoting a concert only through an Instagram post stays below what an indie artist really deserves. At Tonstudio Leipzig flyer design comes from exactly that thought: some occasions deserve a physical piece of paper you can hold, pin to a board, put in a memory box. Something tangible with the dignity the occasion has, designed together at the studio rather than clicked together from online templates.

Six typical occasions are covered. Wedding invitations with save the date cards, the invitation itself and an optional programme, so that the family has something that is still on the pinboard weeks later. Funeral cards as dignified keepsakes for those grieving, with a photo and a text about the person's life, serving as a lasting memory. Formal birthday invitations for milestone birthdays with a design that suits the person. Concert flyers for indie artists playing at Leipzig venues. Album release flyers as promotional material for release events. Club and family events such as anniversaries, class reunions and small club celebrations.

Three packages depending on the effort and the significance of the occasion: the express flyer with a standard layout and quick adaptation as an affordable way in, the individually designed flyer with a shared concept conversation and several design rounds as the most popular standard, the complete event package with several connected printed pieces for a large occasion. At the end you get the print ready PDF and take it to a printer of your choice in Leipzig or a proven online printer. You get specific recommendations to suit your occasion and your quantity. For detailed conversations about the style, book the initial consultation in the studio shop. For short questions you can reach me by email or WhatsApp message.

Occasions

Six typical occasions where a proper flyer carries more than a WhatsApp message.

Flyer design is not equally worthwhile for every occasion. Here are six situations where a printed piece of paper really carries more weight than a digital message: because the occasion deserves particular dignity, because the recipients should hold something in their hands, because a memory is what counts.

Wedding

Save the date, invitation and programme all of a piece

Your wedding is one of the most important occasions of your life, and the invitation should show that. Save the date cards six to twelve months ahead, the invitation itself eight to twelve weeks ahead, optional programme or menu cards for the day itself. All of a piece visually, with your wedding style, your photos and your personal touch. The grandparents get something that stays on the desk or the pinboard instead of sinking into the flood of WhatsApp messages.

A memorial service

Dignified cards as a lasting keepsake

Funeral cards accompany the service and stay with those grieving as a lasting keepsake. A photo of the person who has died, the dates, perhaps a line or a short account of their life, designed with quiet dignity to suit the mood. On particularly difficult occasions these cards often become the most important visible part of the service, something family members still hold years later and remember. The design must not be crowded, it has to give a sense of calm.

A milestone birthday

Formal invitations for 50, 60, 70 or more

A milestone birthday or anniversary deserves more than a scheduling poll. Invitation cards with a design that suits the person, optionally with a photo collage from their life. For themed birthdays (a fifties party, someone who loves mining history, a favourite artist) the design is adapted accordingly. Programme cards for the day can be added, as can menu cards or small table stands with the story of their life.

A concert

Promotion for indie artists playing in Leipzig

You are playing your next indie concert on the Karli, at UT Connewitz, at Naumanns or another smaller Leipzig venue. Concert flyers as promotional material for the people you know, posters for the venue, insert cards for demo tapes. A design that suits your style as an artist, folk and romantic, urban hip-hop, experimental indie, with your photo, your logo and the concert details. Runs are typically between 50 and 300 copies, depending on how you plan to hand them out.

An album release

Promo flyers for your first single or EP release

You have your first single or EP out on Spotify and the rest, and want to support the release physically too. Promo flyers with the cover image, the release date, a QR code to the streaming platforms and a short story about the release. As an insert in CD runs, to hand out after concerts, among people you know as a replacement for a business card. Especially effective with a consistent visual style across the album artwork, the concert flyer and the promo cards, all thought through as one concept.

Clubs and family

Class reunions, club celebrations, family anniversaries

A twenty five year class reunion, a small club celebration, your parents' golden wedding anniversary, a family anniversary with relatives spread far and wide. Invitations that are taken seriously, sent by post and reaching older recipients who do not use social media. Photo collages from old class pictures or the history of the club as a nostalgic anchor, clear information about the date, directions and a way to reply. Runs are typically between 30 and 100 copies.

Packages

3 packages from an express flyer to a complete event set.

Three packages depending on the effort and the significance of the occasion. I go through the specific prices transparently with you in the initial consultation, because they depend heavily on the design work involved. Plus the actual printing costs at the printer you choose, depending on the quantity and the paper quality.

Express flyer

A standard layout, your content, delivered quickly

A lean way in for urgent occasions or simpler requirements. A standard layout from ready made templates depending on the occasion, adapted with your text, photos and details. One or two sided as needed. Handover of the print ready PDF after three to five working days. It makes sense for concert flyers with an urgent date or simpler birthday invitations, where the design itself is not the main point.

Complete event package

Several connected printed pieces for one event

The premium package for larger occasions with several printed pieces of a piece visually. A wedding, for example: save the date plus the invitation plus an optional programme card plus a menu card plus table stands, all designed consistently. An album release, for example: cover design plus concert flyer plus insert cards plus a promo poster. A concept workshop to develop the visual identity, several design rounds for all the pieces. Handover after two to four weeks depending on the scope.

Logo development

A small logo or wordmark of your own that suits the mood: a wedding monogram, an indie artist logo, an adapted club crest, family initials for an anniversary. Developed in the concept conversation with several versions to choose from, and the final version is built into the flyer and also available to you for other uses.

A photo shoot for the flyer

For when you do not have a suitable photo yet: a cover photo shoot at the studio with lighting and several setups. It makes sense with concert flyers for indie artists, album release promotion or formal birthday invitations, where the photo carries much of the personal impression. For more elaborate photo wishes the separate photo shoot package is the better choice.

Finding a printer

When you receive the PDF you get specific recommendations on which printer suits your needs: local printers in Leipzig for smaller personal runs with high quality paper, online printers for larger or cheaper runs with nationwide delivery. For special requirements such as unusual paper, embossing or unusual folds, I can name specialised printers I have had good experiences with.

What sets me apart

3 factors that set my flyer design apart from online configurators.

Anyone looking for flyer design finds hundreds of online configurators, Canva, Vistaprint or Flyeralarm templates. Many of them look interchangeable. So I rely on personal advice, clean print data and a design that really suits the occasion.

A personal concept conversation instead of an online configurator

Online configurators offer thousands of templates, but no advice on which of them actually suits your occasion. Here I sit down with you at the studio and go through the occasion, the mood, the people and what the recipients will expect, and develop the right design from that. That personal concept work is the real value: not choosing from a catalogue of templates, but translating your specific situation into a fitting design.

A print ready PDF in professional format instead of a self service file

Online configurators often deliver files that cause problems at the printer: the wrong bleed, RGB instead of CMYK, fonts not embedded, the wrong dimensions. Here the PDF is prepared in the professional format from the start: correct bleed with a 3 millimetre safety margin, a CMYK colour profile for clean printing, all fonts embedded, the right dimensions for the format you chose. You go to the printer and it works straight away, with no technical questions.

A free choice of printer with honest recommendations

Online configurator providers tie design and printing together: you have to print with them, whether or not that is the best choice for your occasion. Here the two are separate: you get the PDF and go to the printer of your choice. For small runs with high quality paper, local printers in Leipzig are often worth it; for larger or cheaper runs, proven online printers. I give you specific recommendations on what makes most sense for your occasion and your quantity, with no commercial interest in any particular printer.

These three factors, a personal concept conversation, a professional print ready PDF and a free choice of printer, make the difference between an off the shelf flyer and a design that really suits the occasion.

What stays

What a well designed flyer changes, far beyond the moment it is sent.

A well designed flyer does not only work in the moment it lands in the letterbox. It accompanies the occasion through every phase and often stays as a memory long after the day itself.

01 When you send it

You give the occasion more weight yourself

Something interesting happens as you send the printed cards: the occasion feels more important to you too. Sending a mass WhatsApp message takes ten seconds. Addressing a card, putting it in an envelope, stamping it and posting it is a deliberate act, and that act raises your own awareness of what the occasion means. That carries over into the mood you bring to the day itself.

02 When it arrives

Recipients react differently than to a digital message

When a proper invitation card is in the letterbox, it is treated differently from a WhatsApp message. It gets picked up, read, shown, pinned to the board, put in the family calendar. It does not disappear into the digital stream but stays physically visible until the occasion itself. That visibility raises the sense of importance, which in turn means recipients take the occasion more seriously and arrive better prepared.

03 In the weeks before the occasion

The card becomes an anchor for memory

Between sending and the occasion itself, the card serves as a constant reminder: on the desk, on the pinboard, in the family calendar. It makes sure the occasion is not forgotten, that replies come on time, that suitable outfits are planned, that travel is organised. With digital invitations that passive reminder is lost. People have to scroll back through the chat to find the details again.

04 At the occasion itself

The card comes along to the day

Many guests bring the invitation card to the occasion, as a keepsake, as proof of the invitation, as a conversation starter. At weddings the card often ends up in the album, at funeral services it is kept as a memento, at birthdays it stays in a personal memory box. The card is not only preparation, it is part of the memory of the occasion itself, and a well designed flyer carries that memory more strongly than a standard template.

05 In the months afterwards

The card ends up in the memory box

What disappears digitally after the occasion often survives for years as a physical card. Wedding invitations are kept in the wedding album, funeral cards in the family memory box, concert flyers from important gigs as a nostalgic keepsake. That durability is an often underestimated value: a digital occasion disappears from awareness, a physical flyer is brought out again over the years.

06 Years later

The card tells your story on

When your daughter plans her own wedding in twenty years and finds your invitation card in your wedding album, she will not only read the details but take in the visual mood too. A well designed card still tells the story of the occasion twenty years later: the mood, the style, the love that went into the design. A standard template card tells nothing. That effect across generations cannot be measured, but it is real, and it is the actual reason why good flyer design is worth it for private occasions too.

Preparation

How to make your flyer genuinely good.

Good preparation makes the difference between a quick standard flyer and one that really suits the occasion. Six points from many productions.

1
Settling the occasion

What is the flyer actually for?

Think it through before your enquiry: is the flyer a wedding invitation, a funeral card, concert promotion, a birthday invitation or a call to a club celebration? The occasion affects everything: the mood, the format, the quantity, the sending date, the package I recommend. For occasions with real symbolic weight such as a wedding or a milestone birthday, the individually designed package is worth it; for urgent concert flyers or small club celebrations, often the express flyer.

2
Style wishes

Which mood should the flyer carry?

Classic and elegant for a wedding at a castle, calm and dignified for a funeral service, colourful and festive for a milestone birthday, urban and modern for a hip-hop concert, handmade indie for a singer-songwriter album release, warm and nostalgic for a family anniversary. Sending three or four reference examples of other flyers with a similar mood helps enormously in settling the style in the concept conversation.

3
The content

What should the flyer say?

Put the complete text together beforehand: what the occasion is, the date, the time, the place with the address, how to reply, directions, an optional note about the programme, an optional dress code. For funeral cards, the dates, a line and a short account of the person's life as well. For concert flyers, the artist name, the support act, the ticket price and where to buy in advance. The more complete the text is before the design starts, the faster it comes together.

4
Preparing photos

Which images suit the occasion?

For wedding invitations a photo of the couple together, for funeral cards the favourite photo of the person who has died, for birthdays current and historic pictures, for concert flyers an artist portrait and the album cover, for club celebrations historic pictures of the club. Send three to five images to choose from, ideally at the highest resolution you have. If there is no suitable material, a photo shoot at the studio can be added.

5
The quantity

How many flyers should be printed?

Think roughly beforehand: 20 to 50 copies for intimate weddings and small funeral services, 50 to 100 for medium sized birthday celebrations and smaller concerts, 100 to 300 for larger poster distribution or bigger family gatherings, more than 300 for extensive promotional runs. The quantity affects which printer makes sense: small runs often locally in Leipzig, larger ones often online.

6
The schedule

When do the flyers have to be printed?

Count backwards from the sending date: design time (three to fourteen days depending on the package) plus printing time (two to seven working days depending on the printer and any express options) plus delivery to the recipient (one to three days by post). For weddings, enquiring six to eight weeks before the sending date is ideal, so that feedback rounds and printing times stay relaxed. For genuinely urgent occasions I can produce faster, but that limits the care in the design and the room for feedback.

How a session runs

How your flyer design works actually goes.

So that you know what to expect, four structured steps from the first idea to the finished print ready PDF and a recommendation for the right printer.

01

Enquiry and initial consultation

In the paid initial consultation at the studio or by video call I settle the occasion, the style, the mood, the format and the schedule with you. You bring any reference examples and image material, I ask targeted questions and make suggestions on style to suit the occasion. For simpler express flyer enquiries a short exchange by email with clear instructions is often enough. The detailed advice is worth it above all for individually designed packages and complete event sets.

02

Developing drafts

After the concept conversation, two to three drafts are created to choose from, with different moods, layouts and image arrangements. You get the drafts as a PDF preview and choose the direction you like best. With standard express flyers a single draft is created directly to your instructions with no choice of variants, which saves time for urgent occasions.

03

Feedback rounds and finishing

On the chosen draft you make notes: changes to the text, adjustments to the colours, layout wishes, corrections to the images. I adjust them, you get the revised version and give further feedback if needed. Typically two feedback rounds, three with complete packages. After your final approval I prepare the print ready PDF in the professional format, checking the bleed, CMYK, embedded fonts and dimensions.

04

PDF handover and a printer recommendation

You get the print ready PDF by cloud link or email, together with a specific recommendation for a printer to suit your occasion and your quantity. For occasions in Leipzig often local printers for high quality small runs, for larger or cheaper runs online printers like Flyeralarm or Saxoprint. You place the print order yourself and settle any further questions about printing and delivery directly with the printer.

Location and printers

Design at the studio in Leipzig, printing at the printer of your choice.

The flyer design takes place at the studio in Zentrum-Süd, either in person or online by video call. The printing itself is done by a printer of your choice, locally in Leipzig or online anywhere in the country.

The studio in Zentrum-Süd

Personal advice at the studio itself

The concept conversation directly at the studio at Bernhard-Göring-Straße 17 in Zentrum-Süd: a relaxed atmosphere, looking at reference material together, settling the mood in person. It makes particular sense for weddings, funeral cards and larger event packages, where the concept work is the main value. Easy to reach by tram or car, with parking in the courtyard.

Online advice

The concept conversation by video call too

If you do not live in Leipzig or cannot travel, the concept conversation works just as well by video call: screen sharing to look at reference material together, email in between sessions, cloud links for previewing drafts. It works anywhere in the country. For particularly elaborate concepts and larger event packages a session at the studio is usually more efficient; for express flyers and simpler adjustments, online advice is entirely enough.

Printers in Leipzig

Recommendations for local printers in Leipzig

For smaller runs up to about 200 copies, local printers in Leipzig are worth it: better paper quality, personal contact, shorter waiting times and often express printing too. I pass on several proven addresses specifically in the initial consultation or when handing over the PDF, depending on your occasion and your part of the city. For special requirements such as high quality paper or embossing, local printers often work more individually than online suppliers.

Online printers

Flyeralarm, Saxoprint, Wir Machen Druck and others

For larger runs from 200 copies or particularly cheap standard printing, proven online printers like Flyeralarm, Saxoprint or Wir Machen Druck are a solid alternative. Nationwide delivery in two to seven working days depending on any express option, a large choice of formats and paper qualities, transparent price calculators. You can upload the print ready PDF directly, and all the dimensions and specifications are set up correctly during the design.

Special printing

For particular printing wishes

For special requirements, embossing with tactile accents, unusual paper with a fabric character, unusual folds, metallic effects, leather-like paper, I can recommend specialised printers that I or other indie artists have had good experiences with. Special printing like that costs more, but it is worth it for occasions with real symbolic weight such as a golden wedding anniversary, a milestone anniversary or a premium indie release.

Address

Bernhard-Göring-Straße 17 in Zentrum-Süd

The studio is at Bernhard-Göring-Straße 17 in 04107 Leipzig, in the middle of Zentrum-Süd, within walking distance of the Karli and the city centre. Parking in the courtyard, step-free access on the ground floor, and small cafés nearby for relaxed concept conversations. Easy to reach by tram or S-Bahn from anywhere in the city.

Frequent questions

Questions about flyer design at Tonstudio Leipzig.

Here you find the most important answers before you enquire about your flyer. For short questions you can reach me by email or WhatsApp message. For detailed advice with a fixed appointment there is the initial consultation in the studio shop.

You get a fully designed flyer as a print ready PDF.

In the professional format printers need, with correct bleed, clean dimensions, the right CMYK colour profile and embedded fonts.

Depending on the package, one or two sided, with an individual design or a ready made layout, with your text and photos.

Handed over by cloud link or email.

With that PDF you can go straight to a printer of your choice and have any quantity printed.

No, and that is a deliberate separation.

I design the flyer and hand you the print ready PDF, while the printing itself is done by a proper printer.

There are two reasons. First, you get professional print quality there, with real printing machines.

Second, you can choose the printer and the quantity yourself. Some people need 20 wedding invitations, others 500 concert flyers.

In Leipzig there are several solid local printers for small to medium runs, and I go through the details in the initial consultation depending on the occasion, the quantity and the schedule.

For larger runs, online printers like Flyeralarm, Saxoprint or Wir Machen Druck are a proven alternative.

Nationwide in two to seven working days depending on any express option.

I give specific recommendations on which printer suits your needs.

Six typical situations:

Wedding invitations with save the date, the invitation itself and a programme card.

Funeral service cards as dignified keepsakes.

Formal invitations for milestone birthdays and anniversaries.

Concert flyers for indie artists playing live.

Album release flyers as promotional material.

Club and family events such as anniversaries, class reunions or club celebrations.

There are two ways:

1.: you come with a clear idea, a style, colours, a layout, reference examples, and I carry your idea out in detail.

2.: you come without a clear idea and I develop the concept together with you in the initial consultation.

Once the concept is settled, two to three design suggestions to choose from, then feedback rounds until the final version.

There are three options:

Your own photos , and smartphone pictures are often enough if the quality is good.

Royalty free stock imagesthat suit the mood.

A photo at the studio , which makes sense for concert flyers, album releases or indie promotion.

For more elaborate photo requirements the separate photo shoot package is the better choice.

The express flyer: three to five working days.

Individually designed: one to two weeks.

The complete event package: two to four weeks.

Plus two to seven working days for the printing itself at the printer you choose.

For weddings and larger occasions, enquire in good time, ideally six to eight weeks before the sending date.

The exact cost depends heavily on the scope of the package .

In the First consultation I settle what you need specifically with you and you get a fitting quote.

The actual printing comes on top at the printer, and printing costs vary with the quantity, the paper quality and the printer.

I deliberately avoid a price list here, so that this description stays timeless.

All the usual flyer formats are possible:

A6 for classic invitation cards.

A5 as the standard concert flyer size.

DL for tall event flyers.

A4 for more extensive programmes or funeral cards with an account of a life.

Special formats on request, square cards or unusual folds.

For detailed Concept conversations about the style and the choice of package, book the initial consultation as a paid session directly in the studio shop.

Especially worthwhile with weddings and larger occasions.

For short questions about organisational matters, you can reach me by email or WhatsApp message.

WhatsApp is often the fastest way. Getting in touch by phone works too.

An honest limit. What I do not do:

Large commercial advertising campaigns with extensive marketing concepts.

Sets of business stationery with letterheads, business cards and corporate identity.

Poster printing in A0 or A1 with specialised printing technology.

Packaging design for product lines.

For requirements like those I pass on contacts to advertising agencies in Leipzig.

This page is written for private individuals, smaller private club occasions and hobby indie artists.

If you work as a company, a larger club or with a record deal and need professional advertising graphics with a consistent corporate identity, I am happy to pass on the contact to advertising agencies in Leipzig.

For the audio side there is also the separate business site of Tonstudio Leipzig.

Ready for a flyer that really suits the occasion?

Let me get to know your concept.

Write me a short note about what you have in mind: the occasion, roughly how many copies, the format you want and whether an express flyer is enough or an individually designed one makes more sense. For detailed concept conversations you book the initial consultation directly in the studio shop, where I develop the style and layout together with you in a relaxed atmosphere. For short questions about availability, formats or printer recommendations, a WhatsApp message or a brief email works too. If something does not fit this service, such as advertising campaigns or corporate identity sets, I say so honestly and am happy to pass on suitable contacts in Leipzig.
