That is exactly where my mixing starts: I bring your separate tracks into balance, clear up the frequencies and give the song depth, punch, width and character.
Modern DAWs such as Logic, Ableton, FL Studio and Pro Tools make it easy to record at home. Microphones have improved, plugins offer plenty of options and tutorials explain almost every step. Even so, the result often does not sound like the songs you use as references. What is usually missing is not one particular plugin but the view of the whole: balance, frequencies, dynamics, space, depth, energy and musical decisions.

You produce hip hop or rap, build beats in your DAW and have recorded or received vocals. The track has energy, but the mix is not sitting yet. The vocals do not stand steady on the beat, the 808 and the kick fight each other, the ad libs feel too loud or too far away. You are a singer songwriter and you have recorded voice, acoustic guitar, piano or another instrument. The recording has feeling but not the final polish. Classical, folk and world music recordings need a different approach from pop or hip hop. You do not live in Leipzig and still need professional mixing. Then your project simply runs remotely. You upload your tracks through a secure cloud service, I mix in the studio, you get the versions to listen to and send feedback by email or on a call. Ideally you deliver all separate tracks as WAV files in 24 bit, at 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz. What matters is that every track starts at the same point, for example at bar 1 or at the start of the silence, so that everything lines up. Please avoid MP3 tracks and unclear file names.
When you deliver the tracks, it is best to switch the effects off. No reverb, no delay and no compression printed in, unless it is deliberately part of the sound. That gives me far more freedom in the mix. If pitch correction, sound design or creative effects are important to your sound, feel free to send a dry version as well.
One to three reference tracks that show which direction your mix should take are very useful. They do not have to be your favourite songs. What matters is that the sound quality, the mood or the character of the mix matches what you have in mind. That tells me whether you want it warm, modern, dry, spacious, dense or open.
Describe briefly where the mix should go. Pop with punch, indie with depth, hip hop with 808 weight and clear vocals, acoustic with warmth and space, or electronic with sound design. The clearer the direction, the more precisely I can work.
For projects on site you can bring a USB stick, an external drive or a cloud link. For remote projects you get a secure upload link after your inquiry. You upload your tracks and I check them in the studio. Please avoid open public shares.
For a single song you should usually allow two to four weeks from receiving the material to the finished mix including revisions. For EPs, four to eight weeks is often sensible depending on the number of tracks. For albums the work can run over several months. If you have a fixed release date, please ask early.
Four clear steps take you from your inquiry to the finished premaster file, so that you know exactly what to expect.
You write briefly what it is about: genre, number of tracks, the material you have, the character you want in the mix, one to three reference tracks, your preferred delivery date, and whether you want to work on site or remotely. The clearer your inquiry, the faster I can tell you which package fits.
You deliver your material either through a secure cloud link or on site at the appointment. I go through your tracks, check the technical quality, make sure everything is there and clear up any questions. Only then does the mix itself start.
Now the mixing starts. For remote projects I mix in the studio and send you the first version by cloud link. You listen at home on the speakers or headphones you know and give feedback. For projects on site you work at the desk with me and make the decisions during the session.
After the revisions you get the final WAV premaster file by cloud link. It is prepared for mastering, or it can be used directly depending on your goal. On request I also create stems, instrumental versions, vocal up versions, a cappella versions or other export formats.
You can have your mix done on site in Leipzig or remotely. Both routes work and are used differently depending on the project.

Remote mixing works very well and is used regularly by artists from all over Germany. You upload your tracks securely, I mix in the studio, and feedback runs by email, phone or video call.
With remote mixing I pay attention to a clean exchange of files. Your raw tracks are not shared publicly and not analysed on third party platforms. I work with secure upload routes and treat your material confidentially.
For projects on site you can be there for the creative mix. You sit in the studio, hear different versions, give feedback during the process and help decide on effects and mood. This route is more personal and ideal if you know musically where you want to go.
If you come from further away, it can make sense to combine several mix sessions into one weekend. Leipzig is easy to reach from Berlin, Dresden, Halle or Erfurt. From regions further out, remote work is usually more relaxed.
Mix appointments are possible on weekdays and at weekends. With remote mixing much of it runs flexibly between studio days. For a creative mix on site I plan joint appointments with you, often in blocks of three to five hours, depending on scope and concentration.
