At Tonstudio Leipzig it deliberately works differently. Workshops are one to one as standard: you, me and your real project. You bring your tracks, the song you are working on, the mix that would not come together, the beat file that still sounds thin. I work on it directly, and you understand mixing or mastering not in the abstract but through the concrete result you take away with you.
Workshops as a pair or with a small group of friends are possible too. A second person can take part actively, which makes sense for a parent and child, for bandmates or for a learning pair who both want to sit at the desk. Or someone comes along, watches and learns in the background. For groups of friends up to six people who want to learn one topic together, a songwriter meet, three beatmakers, a small hobby band, four people interested in audio, private small group workshops are possible on individual request. The classic format. You come with your current project, a song, a mix, a beat, an attempt at mastering, and one specific topic you want to work on. I work step by step directly in your project file, explain it clearly, and you try it yourself straight away. Maximum attention on whatever you are really stuck with.
You and a partner, both actively involved: bandmates who want to learn recording together, a learning pair in beat making, a parent and child producing a song together. Both get time at the microphone and at the desk. A second active person for about 50 % more on the base package.
A calm option for anyone who will carry on at their own setup at home later but wants to bring someone who has already learned along for the follow up sessions: a partner, a producer friend, someone from the band. The person alongside is not active at the microphone, and for about 25 % more it is considerably cheaper than taking part actively.
A mother and daughter, a father and son, half a day or a whole day at the studio recording a favourite piece together or a small song written by you. Both active at the microphone, a finished audio file as a keepsake, and a CD with a cover image on request. Popular as a gift or as a family tradition.
Three beatmakers, four singer-songwriters, a hobby band from the rehearsal room, five people interested in audio from your circle: small groups of up to six people are possible on individual request. Bring your real project, as a DAW project file (with all the plugins, if you have them), as exported stems or as individual tracks in WAV. On a USB stick, an external drive or sent in advance by cloud link. That is the most important preparation: without your material I work on demo songs, and the learning effect is only half as strong.

If online: screen sharing by Zoom or Teams, so I see your setup directly. Settling in takes less than five minutes, then I am in.
The main part is workshop work on your own project: you do it, I explain along the way, you try it yourself straight away. With recording workshops that means the microphone in the recording room, with mixing workshops the desk and the DAW, with mastering workshops the master chain. You ask as soon as something is not clear, with no rushing.
At the end you get a concrete list of three to five steps for the coming days. With recording workshops the audio file as WAV and MP3 as well. With longer workshops a short written summary. If you have worked on the project file, it goes home with you as a file. Optionally you can arrange a follow up appointment straight away.

If you live in Gohlis, Eutritzsch, Möckern or Wahren, you get here quickly by car around the inner ring road or by tram through the city centre. For quick sessions a trip there and back the same afternoon is enough; for longer workshops I recommend public transport.
Halle, Merseburg, Schkeuditz, Markranstädt, all under 30 minutes by car or 40 minutes by train. Participants from Halle come to Leipzig regularly for day workshops, because a full studio day is easy to plan: travelling in the morning, the workshop until the afternoon, heading back before rush hour.
From Borna, Grimma, Wurzen, Torgau, Riesa, and from Chemnitz and Dresden too, workshop participants come regularly for appointments on site. For very long journeys from these regions I recommend intensive weekend workshops, so that the trip is worth it, or an online appointment by Zoom instead.
