Songwriting Co-Production at Tonstudio Leipzig, your own song written together at the piano.

An idea in your head.
Songwriting Co-Production at Tonstudio Leipzig.

You have a feeling, a line of lyrics, maybe a melody, but no idea about chords, structure or arrangement. That's exactly where I come in as pianist and co-writer: we compose together at the piano until your idea becomes a complete song, and I then record and produce it.

An idea isn't a song yet, but it's the most important part of one.

Many people carry a musical idea around with them for years without ever turning it into a real song. A line of lyrics that has circled in their head for months. A feeling that demands music. A melody that appears while driving and is half-forgotten again by the time they get out of the car. What's missing isn't the idea, it's the musical craft: which chords fit which melody, how four lines become a verse and a chorus, how a song gets a structure that actually holds together. Songwriting Co-Production at Tonstudio Leipzig closes exactly that gap.

I don't work as an advisor on the sidelines here, I work as your co-writer and pianist, right in the middle of the process. We sit down together at the piano, you describe, hum, sing, or simply tell me what the song should mean, and I develop musical ideas directly at the instrument, chords for your melody, a melody for your line of lyrics, a structure for your feeling. We try things out, discard them, refine them, until the song feels right. That's real joint composing work, not an interview and not pure advice. At the end of our collaboration there isn't just a finished composition, there's also the full production: recording, mixing, and mastering as a sensible addition if you want it, so that a finished, release-ready original song results.

This service is deliberately cut differently from my other offers around songs and lyrics. Anyone who confuses it with a similar-sounding service ends up booking the wrong thing, which is why the distinction comes right in the next section.

What this is, and isn't

Four similar-sounding services, four completely different results.

At first glance, Songwriting Co-Production, Lyric Writing Help, Cover Song Production and Beat Production from a reference sound alike. They aren't. This comparison helps you book the right one.

This page

Songwriting Co-Production, from 550 euros

Completely new, originally composed music, developed jointly. Melody, chords and song structure are created together at the piano, I work actively as your co-writer. The result is a fully composed and produced original song, including recording and mixing.

Words only

Lyric Writing Help, from 270 euros

Covers only lyrics and words, as a fixed coaching session from 3 hours. Rhymes, imagery, narrative voice, feedback on your lines. No music, no melody, no chords, no recording is created. Right if you only want to work on the text.

Existing song

Cover Song Production, from 220 euros

Reinterprets an already existing song by another artist, as a vocal cover, a reimagining, or with changed lyrics. Not an original composition, the musical foundation comes from another song. Right if a well-known song should become your own version.

Instrumental from reference

Beat Production from a reference, from 300 euros

An instrumental beat is produced based on a reference track that you bring yourself. No joint composing, production follows a template. Right if you already have a clear sonic reference and need an instrumental in that direction.

In short: Lyric Writing Help stays with the words, Cover Song Production stays with an existing song by someone else, Beat Production stays with someone else's reference track. Only Songwriting Co-Production creates the entire piece of music from scratch, together with you.

Typical starting points

Four starting points that become a song together at Tonstudio Leipzig.

You don't need to arrive with a finished idea. These four starting positions are entirely normal, and a complete song can be developed from each of them together.

Starting point 1

Just a line of lyrics or a feeling

A single sentence that won't leave your head. A feeling for which no words or notes have been found yet. That's plenty as a starting point. In the initial conversation we talk about what should come across, then I develop first musical ideas at the piano that we build on together.

Starting point 3

A special occasion wants its own song

Instead of a cover song for a wedding or birthday, something entirely original should be created, a song that never existed before, written specifically for this one moment. Booking early matters here in particular, because joint composing and the following production need time to develop.

Starting point 4

Newcomers with no music theory background at all

You've wanted your own song for a long time, but never learned an instrument, can't read music, and don't know where to even start with composing. That's the standard case for this service, not the exception. I bring the musical craft, you bring the idea.

Price

One clear package, from the first chord at the piano to the finished song.

No confusing tier of packages, one offer with a clear scope. The exact effort depends on the song and is discussed in the initial conversation.

What's included in the price.
All amounts are final prices, no VAT is charged under the German small business regulation (§ 19 UStG). Included: initial conversation, joint composing sessions at the piano, a demo recording, final recording and mixing. Mastering for release on streaming platforms can be added sensibly and is calculated separately depending on scope, as can CD production with individual cover design.

I'm currently not taking new studio appointments. The price still applies, and I'm happy to note your request. Just write to me briefly about what you have in mind, and I'll get back to you once appointments are possible again.
Mastering as an add-on

If your song is meant to appear on Spotify or other streaming platforms, a final mastering pass for the last sonic polish and the necessary loudness standard is worthwhile. Calculated after the initial conversation to fit the song, and connects directly to the co-production.

CD with individual cover design

Your finished song becomes a tangible gift or keepsake, a professionally produced CD with an individually designed cover, optionally with a photo or personal text. More under CD Cover and CD Production.

Multiple composing sessions

For more extensive ideas, or if several song directions should be explored in parallel, several composing sessions can be bundled. Just describe at inquiry how many song ideas you're carrying around, and we'll plan the scope together.

What makes my work different

Three things that set this co-production apart from pure consulting.

Plenty of offers call themselves songwriting help but end up being pure advice. Three things make the difference with this co-production.

Active co-writer, not an advisor on the sidelines

I sit at the piano with you and compose actively, suggesting chords, developing melody lines, trying out structures. That's genuine joint authorship, not an interview where I just listen and give tips. The music emerges through direct back-and-forth between your idea and my musical craft.

No music theory background required

You don't need to know chord symbols, read note values, or explain song structure. You describe what you want in your own words, and I translate that into musical decisions. Newcomers with no instrumental training whatsoever aren't the exception here, they're the standard case.

From idea to finished production, all from one hand

Composition and production aren't a break for me, they're one continuous process. The pianist who composes with you is the same audio engineer who then records and mixes. No change of contact person, no friction loss between the compositional idea and the finished recording.

These three things, active co-authorship, no prior knowledge required, and composition plus production from one hand, make the difference between a genuine original song and pure consulting that only leaves you with tips.

Process

How your Songwriting Co-Production actually unfolds.

Five structured steps from the first idea to the finished song, so you know exactly what to expect.

01

Initial conversation about your idea

You describe what you're bringing: a line of lyrics, a feeling, a melody in your head, an occasion. We talk about what mood, what tempo, what musical direction might fit. No prior knowledge needed, you simply describe it in your own words.

02

Joint composing session at the piano

We sit down at the piano. I develop chords and melodic ideas directly at the instrument, you give feedback, we try out variations together. Step by step, the musical foundation of your song emerges this way, often over several sessions.

03

Demo

The composing sessions result in a first demo recording, usually piano and vocals or a simple sketch of the arrangement idea. You hear your song as a whole for the first time and can say what still isn't quite right.

04

Fine-tuning

Based on your feedback on the demo, we refine melody, lyrics, structure or arrangement until the song truly sits right. Smaller corrections to individual spots are normal and expected at this stage.

05

Final recording, production and delivery

The finished song is recorded cleanly, mixed, and mastered if you want that. Delivery as WAV or MP3 file via cloud link, optionally also as CD production with individual cover design.
