Children's birthday party at Tonstudio Leipzig, microphone, headphones and real studio atmosphere

Children's birthday party.
Children's birthday parties at Tonstudio Leipzig.

You are looking for a birthday experience that is creative and really stays with the children. At Tonstudio Leipzig they stand at a real microphone, hear themselves through headphones and record a song as a group, as a duet or on their own. No pressure, guided in a way that works for children. At the end every child takes a finished recording home.

A birthday that makes children genuinely proud.

Trampoline park, indoor playground, escape room for children, all great ideas, but they share the same problem: by the evening it is over, and a week later it is forgotten. A birthday party at a recording studio works differently. The children experience real studio atmosphere, a microphone, headphones, an acoustically treated room, someone working with them the way I work with professional artists. It feels different from any playground party, and it stays.

What happens here follows the children. They pick a favourite song, I record it with them, as a group, as a duet, on their own, depending on the mood. Some children step up to the microphone from the first minute, others watch for twenty minutes before they join in. Both are fine. I guide them calmly, at their level and without pressure. Nobody has to prove anything. This is not about perfection, it is about courage, joy and the good feeling of having made something of your own.

At the end every child takes a finished recording home. As a download link for all the parents, and on request as a CD with an individually designed cover. The birthday child is proud, the other children talk about it at school, and in two years you play the song again and remember. That is how a gift works when it really stays.

What the children do

What groups of children most often come to the studio with.

A studio birthday follows the children. Here you can see the ideas families usually come to me with.

Favourite song

A hit from the radio or a children's channel

The children sing their favourite hit together. Whatever runs on repeat in the car, gets hummed in their room, was rehearsed in the school choir, all of it works in the studio too. With a karaoke version or an isolated instrumental version.

Children's choir

The group sings together

With larger groups a choir works especially well. Some children sing the verses, others the chorus, everyone together for the ending. That way every child gets a moment at the microphone.

Duet

Siblings or best friends

Two children, one song, taking turns line by line. Duets are especially lovely for siblings, best friends or cousins. Nobody stands alone at the microphone, a shared performance and shared laughter.

Solo recording

When a child really wants to sing alone

Some children love to sing and dream of having a real recording one day. A solo session in the studio turns that dream into something real. With a professional microphone, headphones and a real audio engineer at the desk.

An audio gift

A birthday greeting for grandparents

Children can also record a short audio message or a sung birthday greeting for grandparents, for an aunt who is ill or for an uncle living abroad. As a CD it becomes a gift that really moves people.

Audio play

A short audio play of their own

A special highlight for creative children: a little audio play with parts shared out, funny voices, sounds and effects. Every child plays a character, and together they tell a story.

Voice experiments

Reverb, echo, robot voice

Once the recording is done, the children get to bend their voices. Reverb, echo, robot effects, deep grown-up voices, high mouse voices, professional studio toys they have never had before.

Their own voice

Finding out what a voice can do

Some children do not want to sing a set song at all, they simply want to play with their voice. High notes, low notes, shouting, whispering, laughing into the microphone. That counts as a studio session too.

A class or a club

A school class or a sports group

School classes and sports groups come for a shared studio experience outside of birthdays too. A class song, a club anthem, a shared memory. For larger groups, send me a short enquiry beforehand.

Packages

Three package sizes for every group size.

The online shop has three set packages plus optional extras. You choose the group size, your preferred date and any extras directly online. You only need to send an enquiry if something special is planned.

60 minutes

Ideal for 1 to 3 children

The small package, ideal for siblings, best friends or close playmates. Intensive guidance and plenty of time for each child. It also works well for a single birthday child.

120 minutes

Ideal for 7 to 10 children

The large package, for whole school class birthdays or bigger play groups. More time, because a lot of children also means a lot of coordination. With breaks and time out on the balcony in between.

CD with an individual cover

The recording becomes a real CD with an individually designed cover, with one to four songs possible. Every child gets something to hold on to and keep.

Photo and video keepsakes

Ten to twenty photos from the studio or a video recording of the whole song. You choose these extras in the online shop, or ask about them briefly if you have something special in mind.

A voucher as a present

A lovely gift idea from grandparents, godparents or an aunt and uncle: adding a personalised voucher for a studio birthday.

CD cover workshop

The children design their CD cover themselves.

A CD recording is nice. A CD whose cover the children designed themselves is unforgettable. After the recording, the studio experience turns into a real piece of artwork, and the children decide everything about it.

A group photo in the studio

Right after the recording we take a nice group photo, in front of the microphone, wearing headphones, with the birthday child in the middle. The children choose the pose and the mood themselves.

Choosing the image and the layout

The children decide which photo goes on the cover, how it is arranged, where the song title sits and in which typeface. They choose the colours, the crop, the position, all of it.

A CD with their own cover as a present

The finished cover is printed on the CD and on the case, no photocopy look, but a proper professional print. The children take a finished piece of work home.

The CD cover experience is an optional extra in the online shop. You can choose between one and four songs.

What the children take home

More than just a recording, a day that leaves a mark.

A birthday at a recording studio is not just entertainment. Something happens to the children on that day, small, quiet, important things.

01 The first time

The first time at a real microphone

For many children it is the very first time they sing into a professional microphone. That moment when they hear themselves in the headphones for the first time is one they do not forget. “Wow, that is me!” children often say, with their eyes wide open.

02 Courage

Daring to sing in front of others

Singing in front of friends and parents is a small test of courage for many children. Once they have managed it, they carry that confidence with them for life.

03 Creativity

Making something of their own

When the children design their own CD cover, choose the photo and decide on the layout, they really are making something of their own. This is not an ordered product, it is a piece of work.

04 Togetherness

Making something together with friends

The shared experience brings them together. When children have recorded a song together, listen to it together and laugh about it together, that is a memory they carry on.

05 A keepsake

A CD or download to listen to again

In two years your CD is on the shelf, you play it again, and the birthday child remembers everything, who was there, who sang with whom, which jokes were made.

06 Pride

Pride that lasts

When the birthday child shows the CD to other people, to an aunt, to grandad, at school on Monday, there is real pride behind it. “I made this. That is my voice. My cover.”

Preparation

How to plan your child's studio birthday properly.

A little preparation makes the day more relaxed and the experience better. Here are the most important points for your planning.

1
The date

Book early

Weekend slots at the studio are popular, especially in the afternoon and on Saturdays. Look at the availability calendar in the online shop early and reserve your preferred date directly online. Four to six weeks ahead is ideal.

2
Choosing the song

Agree on the favourite song beforehand

Ask your child which song they want, and it helps to encourage one or two of the children to prepare beforehand. They are the ones who will lead the way on the day. German hits, English songs and Disney classics all work.

3
An adult present

At least one adult stays with the children

Duty of care: at least one adult has to be present, two is fine as well. Parents sit in the recording room with the children, watching, encouraging and helping.

4
Snacks & drinks

Bring your own snacks and drinks

Bring snacks and drinks that suit children, nothing sticky and nothing that rustles loudly. I provide water. A short break with a snack in between does the children good.

5
Photos

Tell the other parents about the photo extras

If you want to add photo or video keepsakes, tell the parents of the invited children beforehand. Not all parents are happy with pictures being taken.

6
On time

Arrive no more than 5 minutes early

Everything is ready when you arrive. Five minutes beforehand is plenty, any longer and the children get tired of waiting. When you arrive I explain briefly how it works, and then we start straight away.

How a session runs

How a studio birthday works actually goes.

So that you know exactly what happens on the day, here are the four stages of every studio birthday.

01

Choose a package in the online shop

You go to the online shop, choose the package size, the number of children and any extras, look at the availability calendar for free slots and book directly.

02

Getting to know the studio, testing the microphone

At the session I welcome the children and the parents, show them the studio and explain what a microphone is in a way that works for children. A short microphone test loosens everyone up.

03

Singing as a group, as a duet or alone

Up to three children at the microphone at the same time, everyone else one after another or layered on top of each other as a choir. Every child at their own pace.

04

Listening together, finishing, download

At the end you listen to the recording together with the children. I give it a nice studio polish. Delivered as a download link, and as a CD with a cover on request.
